page design
elections package 2024
The first package I designed as News Editor took inspiration from Time Magazine (right). A light beige color background throughout reimagined the traditional red, white and blue, and the collage style I employed in designing the cover provided a modern feel to the package. As Editor, it was my responsibility to make sure every story in the package was cohesive, which meant I edited every photo used in our page designs, and I made sure each page maintained the same color for pull quotes, statistics, end boxes and more. The cover went through many iterations, such as the very first one I made (right), and while learning I had to choose copyright-free photos and redesign again and again was initially frustrating, it led to a beautiful finished product.

I designed this page my sophomore year as a staff writer. I provided the Marriage of Elements (MOE) inspiration for this package's design to my section, based solely off a single image I found on Pinterest (left). Although the design went through enough changes that it no longer bore as much of a resemblance to the original inspiration, it remains unique, with a circular statistic and a captivating visual.
